Lotus Emira Wins at Silverstone 500 with Mahiki Racing
and sets an all new overall lap record for GT4 cars at Silverstone
Round 2 of the British GT introduced a giant 43-car grid to the iconic flagship track of the UK with star appearances from the likes of Gran Turismo gamer-turned-driver Jann Mardenborough, making for an interesting and intense round of the UK’s largest GT racing championship.
To make matters more interesting, Saturday’s qualifying saw Gordie Mutch, who races Emira #20 for Mahiki Racing, set a new all-time lap record in GT4 at Silverstone, an immensely impressive achievement.
The last weekend of April proved to be a fierce battle for the podium in round two of the British GT at Silverstone for the 3-hour endurance race. Steven Lake and Nathan Harrison valiantly fought for P1 for a large portion of the race, losing out on a free pitstop due to unlucky timings causing a FCY, however, both Emiras donned P1 and P2 for a long duration of the race; an amazing stint for only their second appearance on a UK grid.
As the race drew to a finish, Gordie Mutch performed a show-stopping overtake, launching Mahiki Racing towards a hard-earned P1 in class, and P3 overall in the GT4 category for which Mutch and Ian Duggan took to the podium to celebrate.
